How is AI SEO different from classic SEO?
Classic SEO targets top positions in Google search results, where the user then has to click a link. This changes content structure (more factual citations, original data), technical foundation (schema, entities), and measurement metrics (citation share, not just organic traffic).
Does AI SEO work without a classic SEO foundation?
Not really. AI tools are trained on the same web that Google indexes. If your site is technically weak, lacks authority signals, and is invisible in classic search, there’s nothing for AI to cite either. In practice we start AI SEO alongside classic SEO hygiene, not instead of it.
